Our Journey
Since 1997, we have been part of South Africa’s nonprofit sector, originally known as CAF Southern Africa
(CAFSA) and proudly connected to the Global Charities Foundation Network.
We registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (Reg.No:014-831 NPO) in 2000 and have worked to strengthen
philanthropy across the region ever since.
In January 2024, we rebranded as the Southern Africa Philanthropy Foundation (SAPF)—a new name, but
the same purpose.
We continue to uphold our vision, mission, and values while staying adaptable in a changing world. We keep
what works, fix what does not, and remain open to new possibilities.

What Guides Us
At SAPF, our Vision, Mission, and Values aren’t
just words—we live them every day. They guide
how we work, the services we provide, and the
relationships we build.
Our Vision
To embed a culture of strategic, impactful giving
that supports a resilient civil society—and
transforms lives and communities.
“We work with others to ensure giving truly
makes life better for people and communities.”
Our Mission
To cultivate and deliver effective social
investment through customised giving solutions
and strong partnerships.
“We help people and organisations give with
confidence—and build trust that lasts.
Living Our Values
Our values are more than ideals—they shape how we work, how we relate to others, and how we show up
every day. Each value carries meaning, but also action. Here’s how we live them:
Accountability
“We use resources responsibly and
are honest about our impact and
outcomes.”
Integrity
“We do what’s right—even when it’s
not easy. We are truthful,
transparent, and fair.”
Leadership
“We share what works and help
drive positive change in our sector.”
Diversity
“We welcome different people,
ideas, and perspectives to enrich
our work.”
Professionalism
“We show up prepared, deliver
quality, and honour our
commitments every time.“
Sustainability
“We collaborate respectfully and
work towards shared goals with our
partners.”
Cooperation
“We create solutions that last and act
with care for future generations.”
